Waiting is rarely easy. In our fast-paced world, waiting can feel like wasting time. But Psalm 27:14 reframes waiting not as a passive pause, but as an act of courageous faith. David, a man familiar with battles, betrayal, and long delays, reminds us that real strength often comes through waiting—not on circumstances, but on the Lord.
To wait on God means to trust His timing, His plans, and His heart—especially when we don’t understand. It’s choosing to believe that He is working behind the scenes even when nothing seems to be moving. Waiting is where our faith is refined, our character is shaped, and our hope is renewed.
Notice the repetition in this verse: “Wait for the Lord… wait for the Lord.” This emphasis is not accidental. It’s as if David is urging his soul—and ours—not to give up. Not to take matters into our own hands. Not to rush the process.
God’s delays are never without purpose. He may be protecting, preparing, or positioning you for something greater than you can yet see. And while you wait, He doesn’t leave you empty-handed. He gives strength. He gives courage. And He gives Himself.

Lord, I confess that waiting is hard. But I choose to wait on You with faith and expectation. Strengthen my heart when I grow weary, and remind me that You are faithful in every season. Help me to trust Your perfect timing and find peace in Your presence. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
